My Money Camp Teaches Financial Literacy to Sacramento-Area Kids
Hey! It's Sarai again. So my father told me about this place called My Money Camp, and it teaches kids about money. I didn't know you could go to camp for money stuff, but it's real! They teach kids how to save, spend wisely, and even how to make money by doing chores or selling lemonade.
At camp, we played games where we had to decide whether to buy something now or save up for something bigger later. I learned that if I save my allowance, I can buy a really cool bike eventually instead of buying a small toy today. The camp gives you 12 hours of learning plus online exercises you can do at home. I did mine on my tablet with my father.
“It's important to learn about money when you're young so you don't make mistakes when you're bigger.”
Now I have a jar for saving, a jar for spending, and a jar for sharing with people who need help. I already saved up enough to buy a new sketchbook for art class. That was so satisfying!
There's a My Money Camp in Sacramento-Roseville, which is not too far from the Pocket. My sister Alani says she wants to go next year. Now I want all kids in the Pocket to go because everyone should know how to make smart money choices. Money isn't just for grown-ups; kids can learn to use it wisely too!
