New Sacramento River Trail Project Boosts Outdoor Science Learning Opportunities for Pocket Kids
Hi everyone, it's Sarai! There's this big project happening right here in the Pocket. The city is building a new four-mile trail along the Sacramento River. It's going to connect Garcia Bend Park to Zacharias Park, which means there will be more places for kids like me to explore nature. I think it's going to be awesome for learning science outside!
When I go to the river with my father, we see fish jumping, birds flying, and flowers growing along the water. I'm going to learn about all these things in school, but being outside makes it way more fun. The new trail will make it easier for families in the Pocket to walk to the river and see nature together. My teacher says outdoor science is the best kind of science.
“Outdoor science is the best kind of science.”
The city already said yes to building the trail, and they're going to start soon. When it's done, I want to go with my class and study the plants and animals that live by the river. Maybe we can even catch some fish (and then let them go) to learn about the water. I'm so excited!
This trail is going to help kids in the Pocket and all over Sacramento learn science by actually seeing it with our own eyes. Nature is like a big science lab, and the new trail will give us more access to it. I can't wait to explore it with my sister Alani and discover new things every time we go.
